Wish-ful Drinking (and Eating)

Adult activity group to sweeten social scene in Boston

Though it may not be New York (OK- we admit it!), Boston has a lot to do. From the world-renown Boston Ballet to the Museum of Fine Arts to a stroll along the Charles or down Newbury Street, there is rarely a dull moment in Boston (at least before midnight). Even so, thousands of Bostonians and academic immigrants pine for more activities and action.

Enter I Wish Lessons (www.iwishlessons.com), the Chicago-based adult activity organization that is spreading across the country and picking up fun-loving fans wherever it goes. From recent hits like their Beer & Bacon tasting (which will be offered again February 8) and their Whiskey and Cupcake event (which featured the famed cakes from Party Favors in Brookline) to other offerings like the forthcoming French and Italian cooking classes, and evenings of Ethiopian and Korean culture and cuisine, I Wish offers a wide and ever-expanding menu of events and activities for people of all tastes and talents.

When asked where they got the idea, Founder and CEO David Chung recalls that he once saw an employee pairing whiskey and cupcakes at a private party. ”He thought it was a great idea for a pairing class,” Chung recalls. “He was right!”

In fact, adds I Wish Director of Business Development, Blake DeBaske, “we can’t really imagine a better pairing than fine whiskey and gourmet cupcakes!”

While helping to launch I Wish in Boston, Chung enjoyed touring around his company’s latest outpost.  “Boston is such a great city,” Chung observed, noting the Hub’s “deep culture of creativity”. “Marry that with all the things to do here and we think you have a city full of people who will really appreciate learning fun activities.”
When asked for whom I Wish is intended, Chung replied, “All types come to our classes,” noting that past events have hosted singles, couples, and people of all ages and walks of life. So whether you want to meet someone, share a unique experience with someone or just eat and drink a lot of good stuff, make I Wish your wish come true!
