Philip Aviles’ Bloody Martini—nicknamed the “Dirty Diablo”—is purging hangovers with fire
With a hair of the dog approach to escaping the groggy fog of a late night Aviles has created the Bloody Martini—better known as the Dirty Diablo. With 22 separate ingredients including stimulants like chili peppers and habanero infused tequila, olive juice and black pepper it is shaken over ice until ice cold and finished off with a pinch of chipotle. The drink is to be consumed in one long sip. Think of it as a shooter-though-a-straw. The zip gun-like cocktail is sure to blast you through any hangover, or at least propel you to the next.
But MASA isn’t just a place you go to cure your hangover— despite doing it quite well—because with their tempting tapas like Eggplant Fritas and Steak Tostadas or Entrees such as Jack Daniels Glazed Lamb Shank and Southwestern Steak Frites (which I highly recommend) this restaurant can serve up a relaxing lunch or an intimate dinner.
But if you ate going for brunch try and sit at the bar boasting what seems to be wall-to-wall tequila bottles. The bar is also the spot to sit if you are there for the Bloody Martini, which is only $10, because you’re liable to want to have more than one. The Brunch Fiesta menu presents three starting options and four Main Course options with complimentary coffee or tea and, of course, THE DIRTY DIABLO!
