Boston has many “#1” chefs, but only one 647.

FOR OVER 15 YEARS, “fearless” Chef Andy Husbands has been offering recipes from the Mediterranean edge of American cuisine, combining local, sustainable ingredients with way-out creativity that is never too far away and always as welcomed and welcoming as a home-cooked meal.
Appropriately, his home base restaurant and its loungey sister (which is actually named for Husbands’ sister) is a sensual mix of sharp and smooth, friendly and funky, with a soulful soundtrack and a wowing wait staff to match.
Combining warm, worn woods with cool, contemporary metals and fun, eclectic lighting and wall décor, 647 and its darker, more intimate next-door neighbor offer two sides to a culinary coin that is always right side up. And weather permitting, guests can see both sides from the outside on their Tremont Street patio.
Though known for his work with pork, Husbands also excels with other meats and also with no meats at all. In fact, no matter what you are in the mood for or what you may want to avoid, Husbands is always up to the challenge- whether it be a customer’s own idea or an allergy – and willing to make onthe- spot changes to please the most fastidious and persnickety palate.
From his “signature” pork momos and pork belly tacos to BBQ shrimp and fries, hangar steak with mashed rutabaga, grass-fed burgers, fried Brussels sprouts and the tater tots that tipped off the craze, Husbands’ sleek, slim kitchen puts forth favorites for folks of all flavors. As you wait for your mouth-watering main event, enjoy 647’s melty fresh bread cubes with African spiced bean puree and other fun toppings and be sure to take a taste from Tremont’s bar, which offers both seating areas and some of the best (and best-picked) wine and cocktail choices around, including Charles Smith wines, the citrus and Rye pairing known as The Odd Couple, the ginger-y Cowboy Killer and the fruity bitters of the Aperology. Whatever you enjoy first, be sure to save room for Husbands’ chocolate almond bacon bark or dessert chef Kate Burchman’s Almond Joy, a better-thanthe- original take on a sweet (and somewhat healthy) end-of-meal treat that goes well even with 647’s list of ports, limoncello, framboise and other after-dinner drinks. While any night is a great night to visit 647, their regular rotation of creative events gives even more encouragement. From their famous Pajama Brunch and Ladies’ Nights to the appropriately famous Taco Tuesdays, the two-fisted fiesta that is Tremont 647 and Sister Sorel provides creatively comfortable fare at fair prices that fit any taste at pretty much any time.
