Claddagh Fund Finish Line Party Named Official Epic Man Marathon Party

alt
NINE EPIC ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN 24 HOUR, 185.7 MILE JOURNEY TO BENEFIT CHARITY

McGreevy’s “Claddagh Fund Finish Line Party” has partnered with Social Boston Sports and been named the official after party for The Epic Man journey happening this Marathon Monday, April 18, 2011. There will be no pre-sold tickets, guests can enter on a first come, first serve basis. McGreevy’s is located on the finish line of the Boston Marathon at 911 Boylston Street, Boston, MA.
The Claddagh Fund Finish Line Party is the last stop for epic athletes who start their non-stop trek for charity on Saturday, April 16th with a 12,000 ft. plane jump in Lebanon, Maine.  Following the jump, more epic athletes join the journey on April 17th and willkayak/swim 2.5 miles from Peaks Island, ME to Portland, ME and then immediately begin biking 157 miles overnight from Portland, ME to Hopkinton, MA where they will then begin to run the Boston Marathon.

“It started out in 2009 when two friends, Will Thomas and Seth Bradbury, set out on a challenge to kayak 2.5 miles, bike 157 miles overnight, and run 26.2 miles from Maine to the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 24 hours and no sleep” says Justin Obey, President of Social Boston Sports, “and each year the challenge gets well, much more challenging.  I’ve accepted this challenge on behalf of Social Boston Sports to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House charities.”

McGreevy’s will feature an “Epic Drink” on Marathon Monday with a portion of sale proceeds benefitting the Claddagh Fund.  The Epic Drink will be a Stoli vodka concoction with the entire recipe announced on Marathon Monday.  The drink will be served in a CladdaghFund Finish Line Party commemorative cup.  McGreevy’s Claddagh Fund Finish Line Party is open to the 21+ public, a $5 cover charge directly benefits The Claddagh Fund.

The Epic Man journey raises funds for a variety of charities along the way, including the High Five Foundation, A Sisters Wish Foundation and the Dropkick Murphys charity, The Claddagh Fund among others.  The following web pages have been published for advance online donations for those unable to attend the party: High Five Foundation CLICK HERERonald McDonald House CLICK HERE and Sisters Wish CLICK HERE.

ABOUT THE EPIC MAN: Our message: “Always Be Epic” represents the spirit and drive of those who challenge themselves through a fusion of fitness, lifestyle, culture, and inspiration. All participants have a burning desire to accomplish amazing and inspiring feats on their own terms. Recent Epic Man Adventures: “You won’t do it.” Those were the fateful words that, in 2009, sparked the unlikely adventure of two friends (Will Thomas and Seth Bradbury), traveling by kayak (2.5 miles), bike (157 miles overnight), and foot (26.2 miles) from an island in Maine to the finish line of the Boston Marathon, in 24 hours...on no sleep. In 2010,dozens of other participants took on parts of the challenge. To top the 2009 challenge, the Epic Man 2010 was extended to include another kayak immediately following the Boston marathon across the Boston harbor, a cross-country flight to San Fran, a sailing race, a skydive, and another marathon– all within a week. In 2011, many more will join the Epic Man adventure. Learn more about The Epic Man at www.TheEpicMan.com
