Sam and I met at my friend Jordan’s house in Worcester, MA, which was also a recording studio where we would make music on a daily basis. Jordan would keep the fridge stocked with beers like Bass and New Castle, but one day he introduced me to Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout. My curiosity was sparked immediately seeing “Oatmeal” in the title since I was (and still am) a sucker for oatmeal cookies.
From the first sip, I was sold.
This interaction with Sam Smith’s Oatmeal Stout opened my eyes (and my taste buds) to what good beer is all about: smooth texture, complexity and full flavor. Since this memorable day in Worcester, MA, I have enjoyed other beers from Samuel Smith’s line up, such as their Imperial Stout and Nut Brown Ale, but the Oatmeal Stout still remains my favorite.
